We had moved to the Asheville NC area a little while back. About 4 months ago we moved from Swannanoa to West Asheville, from a place down low by a creek to a new place on top of a hill. Little did we know this would be a prudent move for more than one reason. September 26 2024 Hurricane Helene made its way through, after we already had a couple of days of rain. Many areas, including Swannanoa, were devastated. A former neighbor sent me some photos. Cars washed down the road we used to drive to get home every day. Most of the townhomes seem to have survived. But the surrounding area is forever changed.
